What Pixel Pitch Is Best for a Church LED Wall? (P2.5 vs P3.9 vs P4 Comparison)

Pixel pitch—the distance in millimeters between the centers of adjacent LED beads—is the single most important technical specification.

A smaller number means sharper images at closer viewing distances.

Pixel Pitch Min. Viewing Distance Best Application 2026 Cost vs. P3.9
P1.5 – P1.9 1.5m (5ft) Small chapels, broadcast cameras 2.0–2.5×
P2.0 – P2.6 2.0m (6.5ft) Most churches (recommended) 1.15–1.25×
P2.9 – P3.9 3.0m (10ft) Large sanctuaries, budget-focused 1.0× (baseline)
P4.0 – P5.0 4.0m (13ft) Very large venues, distant seating 0.7–0.9×

The rule for churches: If the closest congregant sits under 3 meters (10ft) from the screen, choose P2.5 or smaller.

If everyone sits beyond 3 meters, P3.9 delivers adequate sharpness at a lower cost.

Why P2.5 is the 2026 sweet spot: Manufacturing advances have driven P2.5 panel costs down approximately 40% since 2023. In 2026, P2.5 costs only 15–25% more than P3.9 while delivering a 56% increase in pixel density (65,536 vs. 42,000 dots per square meter).

💡 Pro Tip: If your church live-streams services, always choose P2.5 or smaller. P3.9 may look fine in person, but close-up camera shots during IMAG will reveal visible pixel structure on stream. The 15-25% premium pays for itself in production quality.

This is why

90% of churches we now supply choose P2.5.

Church LED Steel Structure — Screw-Together Design (No Welding Required)

1. What is the role of church LED display screens?

Nowadays, church LED display screens are indispensable in various types of church parties and church wedding activities.

So what makes church LED screen so attractive, and in what aspects does the charm of church LED display screens manifest?

Gorgeous background, help church prayer or wedding activities

When the LED display screen was not used on the stage, the most used on the stage was the curtain, which was static and could present very limited scenes.

In the past, every time a performance started, there would be a staff behind the scenes slowly pulling open the curtain.

Then the pastor or actor posed behind the curtain, and there was another curtain behind the curtain, which corresponded to the content of the performance.

This was the earliest application of church stage scenes.

Until later, the emergence of LED display screens changed this situation.

It was only in the early days that the functions of LED display screens were relatively simple, replacing the background function, mainly to display video materials and act as curtains.

When the LED stage screen is used to a certain stage, its functions are more complete, and its role on the stage is more prominent.

Not only as a stage background, its flexible and changeable images complement the program, bringing many beautiful feelings to believers.

Changing light and shadow to create atmosphere

In traditional church stage design, the pastor is moving and the background is static, one is static and the other is moving.

The pastor’s speech brings intuitive feelings to believers, and the background cannot bring believers beautiful enjoyment and different sensory experience.

However, in the use of church LED display screens, the LED display screen will play pictures that match the program, and then match the corresponding music to create the atmosphere on the scene.

The pictures created by the LED display screen are delicate and realistic, more impactful than the actual scenery, and through the changes of related pictures, it brings more feelings and inspiration to believers and believers.

Let believers get more sensory experience in addition to listening to the speech, which in turn affects the psychological changes of believers and makes believers feel immersive.

The distance between believers and pastors is closer, and deeper communication is achieved.

 Flexible and changeable, unified situation

In the church stage performance, different scenes are needed to match different pastor’s speech programs.

Traditional scenery obviously cannot meet such requirements, and the advantage of church LED display screen lies in its flexibility.

With the continuous maturity of technology, the picture of LED display screen is clearer and the performance is more stable.

It can achieve more flexible and changeable scene changes, and can switch the picture instantly;

Through technical means, any display effect can be achieved, the display picture is clear, the content is rich, and the effect is realistic.

It not only brings beautiful enjoyment to believers, but also sets off the pastor’s speech.

2. Brightness of church LED display

Because the church LED display is installed in the center of the church stage, the brightness of the church LED display is usually around 500cd/m²-1000cd/m². ‌

This brightness value is suitable for indoor environments and can meet the lighting needs inside the church.

At the same time, it will not be too glaring, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience for customers.

Choosing the right brightness is crucial to improving the customer’s viewing experience.

Therefore, when choosing an LED display, the church will take into account the specific requirements of the indoor environment to ensure that the brightness of the display is coordinated with the surrounding environment, thereby creating an ideal visual effect.

3. Specifications and dimensions of church LED display

Dimensions and specifications of church LED screen, what is the general size of church LED screen?

On the stage of various churches, a background indoor LED display screen is usually built, and the background is mostly used for church LED screen.

Many users do not know how to do it regarding the size and specifications of church LED screen, and do not know what the size of the church LED screen is generally used.

This issue is very critical in the early design plan, which directly affects the size of the LED screen.

Of course, this also needs to fully consider the size and height and width of different church stages and other objective conditions, and then realize a large-size screen after splicing according to the corresponding dot spacing specifications of the products

So when we design the church stage LED screen plan, we must understand what are the commonly used LED size specifications and what size is generally made.

In addition to size, what other factors are more critical, especially how to design corresponding plans according to different church stage sizes and budgets.

Generally speaking, there is no fixed size specification for commonly used church LED screens.

It needs to consider two factors, one is the size of the church stage, and the other is the size of different LED dot pitches.

These two factors determine the final size of the LED used on the church stage.

Indoor church stages usually require more refined displays and higher resolution requirements for LED screens, so smaller dot pitches are usually used.

The commonly used LED dot pitch specifications for church LED displays are mainly P4, P3, P2.5, P2.0, P1.8, P1.5, etc.

Relatively speaking, the dot pitch is smaller, and the module size is mainly 320*160mm.

Of course, sometimes a box structure is also used. The size of the box is larger than the module.

Generally, the size of a box is equivalent to the size of 3 ordinary modules. The commonly used cabinet size specifications are 480*320mm, 500*500mm, etc.

As for the size of the church LED screen, the key depends on the actual size of the church stage.

The larger the church stage, the larger the corresponding LED screen should be.

At this time, it is best to make the church LED screen as large as possible within the controllable budget, and use a smaller dot pitch as much as possible.

In this way, the larger the screen, the more magnificent the display effect can be achieved, which can meet the effect of more people watching at the same time.

At the same time, the smaller the dot pitch, the better the clarity of the screen and the better the viewing effect.

At the same time, the size specifications of the church LED screen must also control a normal display ratio, that is, the length and width should be as close as possible to 16:9.

In this way, when displaying images on the computer, a normal display ratio can be controlled.

When we design the church LED screen, its size is mainly determined by the size of the church stage and the budget.

Secondly, it is determined by the dot pitch and other parameters of the LED screen used. The size should be combined with various factors.

In short, the screen should be as large as possible and the dot pitch should be smaller within the budget, which is more in line with the display requirements of the church background screen.

4. Church LED display control system

For different LED display contractors, LEGIDATECH LED display factory provides different brands of church LED display control systems.

According to the needs of the church LED display application scenario, the control system of the church LED display is generally a synchronous LED display control system.

We can customize the production of power supplies according to the needs of different customers.

The characteristics of the power supply are good appearance and craftsmanship, using excellent aluminum shell and porous design, which is more conducive to heat dissipation.

The internal circuit of the power supply has short circuit protection, overvoltage protection and overload protection. The circuit board of the power supply adopts energy-saving circuit board design, which really saves costs for customers.

6. Steel structure of church LED display

The steel structure of church LED display is generally wall-mounted steel structure and hoisting steel structure.

Because the wall-mounted and hoisting steel structures are welded on-site according to the size of the installation box or LED module.

LEGIDATECH provides steel structures that do not require welding, but only need to be spliced with screws.

The steel structure made by LEGIDATECH greatly reduces the cost of customers to make steel structures and saves time to install church LED display.

What Size LED Screen Does My Church Need? (Calculator & Size Chart)

Step 1 — Measure: Available wall width and height behind the stage. Distance from the screen location to the back row.

Step 2 — Apply the formula: Screen height should equal approximately 1/6 to 1/10 of the distance to the back row. For a 60ft (18m) deep sanctuary, ideal height = 18m ÷ 8 = 2.25m (7.4ft).

Step 3 — Calculate width: Multiply height by 1.78 (for 16:9 widescreen) or 1.33 (for 4:3 traditional).

Seats Recommended Size EHONOR 2.5 Panel Config
50–150 8ft × 5ft (2.4m × 1.5m) 10 (W) × 6 (H) = 60 panels
150–300 12ft × 7ft (3.7m × 2.1m) 14 (W) × 8 (H) = 112 panels
300–600 16ft × 9ft (4.9m × 2.7m) 20 (W) × 10 (H) = 200 panels
600–1,000 20ft × 12ft (6.1m × 3.7m) 24 (W) × 14 (H) = 336 panels
1,000+ 30ft × 18ft+ (9.1m × 5.5m+) Custom engineering

Do not worry about achieving a perfect 16:9 ratio. The NovaStar video processor scales any input to fit your exact dimensions. Most church LED walls have a slightly custom aspect ratio—this is standard practice.

Church LED Screen FAQ: 15 Questions Answered by Factory Engineers

Do I need 4K or 2K resolution for a church LED screen?

No.

A typical 14×8ft church screen at P2.5 produces approximately 1,700×960 pixels—near-HD quality that appears perfectly sharp at normal church viewing distances (3m+). Only very large installations (25ft+ wide) with very close seating (under 2m) benefit from true 4K.

Pursuing 4K unnecessarily adds significant cost with no visible benefit for most congregations.

P2.5 versus P3.9—is the price difference worth it?

In 2026, P2.5 costs only 15–25% more than P3.9 for a 56% increase in pixel density. Choose P2.5 if anyone sits within 3m (10ft) of the screen or you use close-up camera shots during live-streaming.

Choose P3.9 if all seating exceeds 3m from the screen and budget is the primary constraint.

LED screen vs. projector—which is better for churches?

Factor LED Screen Projector
Brightness with Stage Lights On Fully visible (1,000 nits) Washes out
Lifespan 8–10+ years 2–4 years ($200–$500/bulb)
5-Year Total Cost Lower Higher (bulbs, filters, replacement)
Camera / Live-Stream Zero flicker Depends on projector
Ambient Light Unaffected Significant wash-out
Initial Cost Higher upfront Lower upfront

Conclusion: If stage lights stay on during worship or you struggle with brightness, LED is the superior long-term investment.

Can church volunteers install the screen themselves?

Yes—and most do. EHONOR 2.5 panels weigh 4.2kg each and magnetically attach to the steel frame.

We provide step-by-step video guides, wiring diagrams, and remote assistance at no additional cost. For installations exceeding 30m², we recommend a local AV installer for the steel structure mounting portion.

What is the power consumption?

EHONOR 2.5 panels consume approximately 710 watts/m² at maximum (full white, rarely used) and approximately 300 watts/m² on average with typical church content.

A 14×8ft (~10m²) screen draws about 3 kW during service—equivalent to approximately two household space heaters.

Do we need a permanently on-site technician?

No. After initial configuration (guided remotely), operating the screen is as simple as connecting a laptop via HDMI.

Most churches train one or two volunteers. The configuration is saved permanently.

How does international shipping work? Will the panels arrive safely?

All shipments use reinforced flight cases or custom-foam-insert boxes designed for international freight.

Air freight: 5–10 days. Sea freight: 25–40 days. In-transit damage rate across 108+ countries is under 0.3%.

What if a component fails after installation?

LED screens are modular. Process: (1) send us a photo/video of the issue, (2) our engineer identifies the faulty component, (3) you swap it with a spare from the included kit while we guide you via video call, (4) we ship a replacement spare.

Average resolution: under 24 hours.

Can the screen connect to our church camera?

Yes. The NovaStar video processor accepts SDI, HDMI, and DVI inputs simultaneously. Your camera feed, lyrics, and sermon slides can display on the same screen without additional hardware.

Is the LED screen waterproof?

Indoor LED screens (including EHONOR 2.5) are not waterproof and must be installed in a dry environment.

For outdoor church signage, LEGIDATECH offers IP65-rated outdoor panels—contact us for a separate recommendation.

What software controls the screen?

NovaStar control software (NovaLCT) is used only for initial one-time configuration. After configuration, you do not need to open the software again.

Content display is controlled from your presentation computer via HDMI—identical to connecting an external monitor.

How do we protect the LED screen investment?

(1) Use a voltage regulator (AVR) if your grid voltage is unstable. (2) Maintain a dry environment. (3) Power on the screen 2–3 times per week for 3–5 hours to remove internal humidity. (4) Clean only with a soft dry brush and isopropyl alcohol.

How do we configure the screen for the first time?

Configuration involves setting receiving card parameters via NovaStar software. LEGIDATECH provides a step-by-step video guide specific to your order.

Most churches complete the initial setup in 30–60 minutes. Remote assistance is available at no additional cost.

How are components repaired?

LED screens do not require specialized repair technicians. When a component malfunctions, you replace that single module, power supply, or receiving card with a spare from your included kit.

No soldering, no board-level repair, and no return shipping required.

How long can a church LED video wall last?

With stable power, a dry environment, and regular power-on maintenance, a LEGIDATECH EHONOR series LED wall is engineered for 8–10+ years of service—approximately 3× the lifespan of a projector setup.
