The Client: RCCG Jesus Mega Sanctuary, Akowonjo

RCCG Jesus Mega Sanctuary is a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Akowonjo, a busy district in Alimosho, Lagos. The church meets on Church Street off Shasha Road, near the Iyana Bus-stop. Its sanctuary has a high ceiling, beige drapes on both sides, a gallery above the main floor and rows of chairs around a red-carpet aisle. At the front, the altar stands below a wave-textured feature wall, and the screen now occupies the centre of that wall — the one surface every seat, gallery included, already faces.

A hall of this shape needs one display on the main sightline: large enough for the back rows, high enough to clear the platform. The RCCG Akowonjo build follows the same pattern as our other church LED screen projects — fixed, wired in and part of the room.

The Screen: Ehonor Series P2.5 Indoor LED Display

The display is an Ehonor Series P2.5 indoor LED screen, measuring 2.88 m wide by 1.92 m high. Its 3:2 proportions match the central panel of the feature wall, and thirty-six standard 480 × 320 mm cabinets form a 6 × 6 grid.

  • P2.5 resolution. The 1152 × 768 canvas keeps lyric lines and scripture verses crisp, with room for lower thirds and event artwork.
  • Indoor design. Brightness and colour are tuned for a lit sanctuary, so the screen stays readable with the house lights on.
  • Camera-friendly refresh. A high refresh rate keeps the display clean on phone and camera footage, with no visible scan lines in the site photos.
  • Standard panel system. A spare module is a straight swap, so a single cabinet failure does not take the whole wall out of service.

Installation: What the Site Photos Show

The first site photo catches the wall while the screen position was still open. Two workers are at the central opening above the altar, one in a high-visibility vest, with a ladder set against the wall and the framework of the recess exposed. It is an installation in progress, documented as it happened.

The finished wide shot shows the result: the screen seated in the recess, its frame square with the wall panel, its bottom edge clear of the altar and floral arrangements, and no cabling visible from the seating area. The display fills the central panel without covering the decorative border around it.

The Screen in Action

The close-up was taken in the run-up to the parish’s Annual Weekend 2025, with the screen carrying the event artwork: theme, date, service time and venue. The text holds cleanly against a busy background, and colour stays even across the panel — the detail that matters when a church announces a programme from the front wall.

The wide photo shows the other everyday mode: service footage above the altar. Designed slides and moving video are what a church display spends most of its life doing, and both run from a standard LED controller. Both photos were captured handheld on ordinary phones in a lit room; the picture stays smooth and band-free, so the screen does not spoil a recorded service.

Why P2.5 Works Well for a Church LED Screen

Church content is mostly text viewed from very different distances: front rows a few metres away, back rows much further, and a gallery looking down at an angle. P2.5 answers that mix without the cost of fine-pitch showroom hardware.

Text stays readable. At 2.5 mm, a full-width lyric line has enough pixels to stay sharp from the front seats, while the 1152-pixel width leaves room for smaller scripture references. In a hall with a gallery, that headroom matters more than raw brightness.

The room does not need to go dark. As we explain in our LED screen vs projector comparison for churches, a projector depends on throw distance, a clear wall and reduced ambient light. A church LED display is self-emissive: it holds black against the illuminated wall, needs no lamp changes and stays readable with the congregation in normal light.

The size fits the sightline. 2.88 × 1.92 m is a front-wall screen, not a concert backdrop. It covers the central panel above the altar, fills the view from the main floor and leaves the platform, pulpit and floral arrangement visible below. The 6 × 6 cabinet grid also keeps maintenance local to one module.

LED Screens in Lagos Churches

Lagos is the most active church LED screen market we ship to. Documented builds include a P2.5 wall at Salem Christian Ministry in Lekki, a compact front-wall screen at the Apostolic Church in Apapa, and the 2.88 × 1.44 m Ehonor build in Abuja. The RCCG family also has documented P2.5 work outside Nigeria, including a church LED screen for an RCCG parish in Ireland.

Akowonjo adds a new point on that map: a 5.53 m² P2.5 wall in a parish sanctuary in Alimosho, set into the panel above the altar. It is one more documented LED screen in Nigeria and a real reference for churches weighing a fixed front wall against a projector or a larger stage build.

FAQ: Church LED Screens in Lagos

What LED screen did RCCG Jesus Mega Sanctuary install?

The church installed a 2.88 × 1.92 m Ehonor Series P2.5 indoor LED screen — about 5.53 m², resolving 1152 × 768 pixels — in the central recess above the altar of its sanctuary in Akowonjo, Lagos.

What pixel pitch is right for a church LED screen?

For a hall of this kind, P2.5 is the common choice. It keeps lyric text and scripture sharp from the front rows while holding detail for seats at the back and in the gallery. Larger auditoriums with viewing past fifteen metres may move to P3 or P4 to balance budget against distance.

Why do churches install LED screens instead of projectors?

An LED screen is self-emissive: it holds contrast with the house lights on, needs no throw distance or darkened room, and has no projector lamp to replace. It also films cleanly, which matters for churches recording or streaming services.

Can LEGIDATECH ship and install an LED screen in Akowonjo, Lagos?

Yes. Lagos is our most active Nigerian market, with documented church builds in Lekki, Apapa and elsewhere in the city. Screens ship in export packing with spare modules; the wall frame and rigging are handled locally, with remote configuration support from our team after delivery.

How much does a church LED screen cost in Nigeria?

A P2.5 indoor wall in this roughly 5.5 m² class typically runs about US$2,400–6,600 for the screen body, or US$3,600–8,600 landed in Nigeria before the wall frame and local electrical works. Final pricing depends on cabinet specification, spares and freight; our LED screen price guide for Nigeria breaks down the full stack.

What can the RCCG Akowonjo screen display?

Lyrics, scripture, sermon slides, event artwork, announcements, service footage and recorded video, all from a standard LED controller. The site photos show two of those modes: a designed event announcement and service video above the altar.
